The Statutes of hibisca e.V., Berlin

(Excerpt from the association's statutes, version of June 27, 2015).

§ 2 Aims and purpose of the association

1. the association pursues exclusively and directly non-profit purposes in the sense of the section "tax-privileged purposes" of the German tax code.
2. the purposes of the association are
a) the promotion of civic engagement in favor of charitable and benevolent purposes and the general promotion of democratic governance
b) the promotion of nature conservation and landscape management within the meaning of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the nature conservation laws of the Länder, the promotion of
    environmental protection and the promotion of animal welfare
c) the promotion of education, national and vocational training as well as the promotion of international attitudes and tolerance in all areas of culture and the idea of international understanding
d) the promotion of science and research
3. implementation of the purpose of the statutes (goals)
a) The purpose of the statutes is realized by means of the promotion and organization of projects which contribute to the improvement of sustainability in the sense of a
   preservation and permanent protection of the basis of life of humans, animals, nature, environment and society' - both on a local and regional as well as on a national and international level.

b) Funded and organized projects must have a non-profit orientation, be innovative or groundbreaking, and be in accordance with the goals and purpose of the association and its statutes.  
    In this sense, they must serve the implementation of greater sustainability and should also be assigned to one or more of the following focal points:
        i. cultural, artistic, social, and socio-cultural activity in the sense of advancement, reflective capacity, humanity, and social justice
             within the society or promotion of social and cultural engagement as well as social participation for the establishment of a culture of respect
            and the affirmation of value-preserving structures in the sense of promoting social (and overall societal) sustainability for the creation and preservation of social resources
        ii.  Conservation and preservation of natural and environmental resources, especially the preservation of biodiversity and healthy habitats.
        iii.  Science and research for more sustainability in the sense of the definition under 3 a), whereby here own research and/or research in the context of
             the framework of the non-profit guidelines determined by the tax code. This is carried out by own employees or
             auxiliary persons within the meaning of Section 57 (1) of the German Fiscal Code. Example: scientific research for the development of a low-threshold,
             generally understandable and applicable participatory sustainability approach
        iv. Knowledge transfer and transdisciplinary dialogue for more sustainability in the sense of the definition under 3 a), such as the publication and further development
              and discussion of results of own research in the context of citizens' conferences, transdisciplinary dialogue and open platforms
        v. civic engagement for more sustainability in the sense of the definition under 3 a), such as the development and further dissemination of a modular approach
            for improving cooperation and participation processes in civic initiatives to promote sustainability.
c) Support for projects can take a variety of forms and should be resource-based, i.e., occasion-based, appropriate to the purpose
    and aimed at building sustainable structures and processes. In concrete terms, this can take the form of, for example, personal knowledge transfer and practical
    support or by passing on donations collected specifically for this purpose.
d) The organizational procedure for the promotion and organization of projects as well as the application procedure are regulated in a separate project guideline.
e) In order to implement and secure the set goals, the association will also build up, establish and use suitable support instruments such as events,
    publications, media and fundraising formats. The association's own scientific findings and research results will be made available to the public in a timely manner after completion and evaluation of the investigations. will be made available to the public in a timely manner. Other information forums and formats (e.g., in the form of events) will be established within the scope of available resources and in
    in accordance with the statutes of the association as well as the non-profit law.
f) The Association may establish or co-found its own non-profit organizations and corporations to implement the purpose and goals of the Association, including in other cities as well as abroad.
   These organizations and corporations for the implementation of the purpose of the statutes can be of equal rank, subordinate or completely independent and act.
g) The Association is entitled to employ staff, to conclude fee contracts and to commission external service providers for the realization of its statutory purposes.
4. philosophy of the association
a) The association is free from party-political and denominational ties.
b) All members of the Association are entitled to be treated by each other in a manner consistent with the spirit of fair, dignified and respectful cooperation.
c) In the implementation of its goals and its statutory purpose, the Association shall strive wherever possible for the equal and respectful involvement of all sections of society.

5) The association is selflessly active and does not primarily pursue its own economic purposes. The funds of the association may only be used for the statutory purposes,
   In particular, income and surpluses are to be used entirely for the charitable purposes of the Association. No person may be compensated by expenditures which are foreign to the purpose of the association,
  or by disproportionately high remuneration. This means that the members do not receive any benefits from the association's funds. Expenses of the members,
  which are directly related to the general activities of the association according to the statutes or which directly benefit the purpose and goals of the association, can be reimbursed.
